THE AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD'S ELECTRICITY FOOTPRINT  IS 5.09 METRIC TONS OF C02 EACH YEAR.

 

The Residential Energy Consumption Survey performed by the U.S. Department of Energy found that the average American household consumes 11,320 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, and according to the Environmental Protection Agency's Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, the average annual emissions for the standard American household equal 5.906 metric tons of CO2 for electricity alone.
