THE AVERAGE AMERICAN'S ANNUAL CARBON FOOTPRINT IS 16 TONS.
 
The Nature Conservancy estimates the average carbon footprint for a person in the United States to be 16 tons (emitted annually), one of the highest rates in the world.  Globally, the average is closer to 4 tons per person.  The variations in our carbon emissions arise from the variation of our lifestyles.
